This enchanting 1950s floral print polished cotton dress from American label Jane Derby showcases some exquisite tailoring complete with its original gross grain ribbon belt. The gently abstracted floral print is an attractive array of pastel shades in pink, lime green, and soft greys and blues. The dress has a classic hourglass silhouette and synches tightly at the waist before flaring out into a full circle calf length skirt, densely gathered at the front to form a smart inward folding pleat. The sailor style neckline is gathered into a sunburst formation at the centre and the bodice is neatly tailored on either side to elevate the bust. The cap sleeves are skilfully gathered around the arm adding to the gamine appeal of the piece. There is a central zip fastening at the reverse with a hook eye closure at the top. This delightful dress is in beautiful vintage condition and would best suit a US size 6, UK size 10. Our model is a UK 6-8 and 5ft 4in. (163cm) and this dress was a great fit on her.
